SEPARATE CUSTODY

Charles Schwab as Custodian

With Schwab, every pre-need account is held separately, ensuring transparent ownership and institutional-grade asset protection.

Role of custodian

Separate Accounts Ensure Clarity and Control

A custodian holds securities for safekeeping and facilitates transactions. In the case of PNA, each pre-need contract is maintained in its own account—never pooled—so ownership is clear and auditable with real-time visibility into balances and holdings.

FAQ

Learn More About Schwab & PNA

What Does It Mean That Pre-Need Accounts Are Never Commingled?

Each pre-need contract is maintained in its own individual account at Schwab. Your accounts are never pooled with those of other funeral homes or other customers. That separation means ownership is always clear, balances are always auditable, and the financial position of one account has no impact on any other.

Does PNA Take Custody Of My Pre-Need Assets?

No. PNA has no custody of or access to client funds at any point. All accounts are held at Schwab, and the institutional trustee has sole authority to authorize any account activity or fund disbursements.

Who Issues Tax Statements To Pre-Need Customers?

Schwab handles all 1099 tax reporting and issues annual statements directly to each pre-need customer in accordance with IRS requirements. Neither the funeral home nor PNA is responsible for this reporting.
