A Small Loss Can Make a Big Difference
When pre-need accounts don’t keep pace with rising service costs, the impact on valuation can grow over time. PNA gives you clearer visibility into that relationship.
The illustration shows how a modest gap between pre-need contract values and your General Price List (GPL) can translate into annual loss to GPL and, over time, reduced business valuation of $371,000.
Case Study:
- 50 new contracts per year at $8,500 per contract ($425,000)
- Average loss to GPL at-need 12.5% ($8,500 X 12.5% = $1,062)
- Annual loss at-need (50 contracts X $1,062 average loss) = $53,000
- Potential valuation impact @ 7 times earnings multiple ( 7 X $53,000 annual loss) = $371,000

The effectiveness and potential success of an investment plan depend on a variety of factors, including but not limited to the manner and timing of implementation, coordination with the client and the client’s other engaged professionals, and market conditions. PNA’s 1.50%* fee covers everything needed to run a complete pre-need program: investment management, trustee oversight, custody, technology, reporting, compliance workflows, onboarding, training, and marketing support. The only services outside that scope are those requiring independent third-party professionals, such as legal advice and tax preparation.

Yes, in most cases, if your current pre-need portfolio is funded through CDs, deposit accounts, or an existing trust arrangement, PNA will coordinate all transfer logistics directly with your existing provider. Our onboarding team manages the process from start to finish to help ensure a smooth transition with minimal disruption to your funeral home and your families.
Pre-need life insurance contracts are generally irrevocable and non-transferable under the issuing carrier’s contractual terms and applicable state regulations. Once a policy is in force, the carrier controls the terms and the funds. That is one of the structural limitations of insurance-funded pre-need that funeral homes often discover only when they try to make a change. While existing life insurance contracts cannot be moved, PNA can help you evaluate your current program and develop a strategy for new pre-need contracts going forward that are fully portable and transparent.
Yes, at no cost and with no obligation. PNA reviews your existing pre-need program and compares portfolio performance against inflation and your General Price List trends. The goal is to give you a clear picture of whether your program is keeping pace with your actual cost of delivering services over time. The assessment is provided for educational purposes and does not constitute individualized investment advice. Results will vary based on individual circumstances.
